If anyone's interested to read about a swim I did last week, I've just put a writeup with some great photos on my blog: http://againsttheti.de/28-ks-later/
It was a beautiful 28km swim from Palm Beach to Shelly Beach, Manly in Sydney, Australia. We finished it in 7 hours 15 minutes and thought it might be of interest!
Terrific swim, would highly recommend it - happy to answer any questions.
Cheers,
Jason

nice swim mate, congrats. Can you tell me how the 28km was measured? I have jumped on Google Earth and from headland to headland I am only getting 16kms, 18km's if you start at North Palm Beach and 22km if you follow along the beaches?
Our pilot boat's navigation system plotted our course at 28km. Previous swimmers who've done this swim have measured it at 28km as well. As the crow flies, this site is giving me 23km: http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-distance-calculator.htm but obviously we had to swim around the headlands etc.
Given that my most recent 10km time is 2:25, it would be surprising for a 16km swim to take me over 7 hours.
