Swimmer Statement

What inspired you to do this swim?

I was inspired to do this swim because as changes came with quarantine I was able to set goals for myself that I could accomplish to compensate for the lack of other competitions or opportunities. I felt that this swim was a good step for me to continue my marathon swimming journey as I continue check off different distances. I also was surrounded by people who encouraged me to keep going and work towards something that has given them great joy.

Please describe how you planned for the swim.

I planned for the swim by swimming everyday and continuously tried to reach certain plateaus. The course planning was done by my advisors as well as talking it over with me.

How did the swim go, generally? Did you face any unanticipated challenges?

The swim went well the whole time as I was fortunate enough to have coaches/advisors thoroughly plan it out. Though I was not expecting of the high levels of humidity.
